Q. Will using a remanufactured toner cartridge void the warranty
I currently have on my machine?
A: No. Federal Law prohibits the Manufacturer from voiding your
warranty simply because you chose to use a third party
consumable for your printer or copier. Any one implying
otherwise is violating the Massey-Ferguson Act. If we can
determine that your machine is damaged by one of our
remanufactured cartridges, Hewlett Office Systems will repair or
replace your machine at no charge to you.
Q. Are your cartridges "Drilled and Filled" as many are?
A: No. At Hewlett Office Systems, each cartridge is completely
disassembled, any worn parts are replaced and the entire
cartridge is then thoroughly cleaned. We use a 15 step process
to remanufacture your toner cartridge. We use USA manufactured
supplies and then test the cartridge after the remanufacture
process is complete. After testing, we seal the cartridge in an
air-tight bag and then package it in a cardboard box.
Q. Will I get more or less prints from a remanufactured
cartridge?
A: With our cartridges you will get 20% to 50% more prints than
a brand new cartridge, depending on the type of printing you are
doing. Our cartridges will allow you to maintain the high
quality output, the reason you purchased a laser printer to
begin with. Remember not all remanufactures are equal. We stand
ready with the latest cutting edge information on laser printers
and copiers constantly entering the market and use only the
highest quality toner and supplies available to ensure the best
product on the market today.
Q. I've tried several different cartridges but the same print
problem keeps appearing, what do I do?
A: Many problems are associated with the printer itself. Call
our technical hotline or e-mail your problem to our tech through
our guestbook and we can help determine what the problem is. We
service and repair almost all makes of laser printers and some
copiers as well.
Q. I don't have any empty cartridges except the one in my
printer?
A: Hewlett Office Systems has some empty cartridges in stock
some we can get but some we can not due to numbers of machines
in service, less machines, less empty cartridges and usually a
higher cost for empties. If you only have one cartridge, buy
another new one and send the empty to Hewlett Office Systems to
remanufacture and return as your back-up toner cartridge. If we
have it we can ship from stock with a core charge applicable. I
encourage all customer and end users to keep a back-up cartridge
available in case you do run into problems. Even new ones will
be defective, be prepared.
Q. Does recharging/remanufacturing my toner or drum cartridge
really save me money?
A. In most cases it will save you a significant amount of money.
Let's look at a popular toner cartridge we recharge: the HP
LaserJet 4+ toner cartridge. This cartridge retails for about
$155.00. You probably will not pay retail so we will use the
price we sell the cartridge for - $102.00. If we recharge this
cartridge, we only charge $44.95. This is a savings of $57.05!
What this does is effectively cut your printing costs in half
and your cost of ownership of the printer is significantly
reduced. It is a win-win situation.
Q. Will using a recycled toner cartridge void my warranty on my
printer or copier ?
A. This is a popular question. According to the Magnusson Moss
Warranty Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act, Subparagraph
C, Section 101, no manufacturer can legally require you to
purchase supplies exclusively from them. If you purchase a
remanufactured cartridge or recharged your old one from a
quality remanufacturer (like Hewlett Office Systems), it should
perform exactly or the same or better than the original and it
will not void the warranty.
Q. Will using a recycled cartridge damage my machine ?
A. A toner cartridge that has been properly remanufactured will
not cause any damage to your printer or copier. If you are using
Hewlett Office Systems, you have an equal or greater chance that
this will not occur from our remanufactured cartridge since we
test most of the cartridges before they go out. We are usually
able to offer even better quality than the original manufacturer
because of the technology that has evolved in our industry.
Replacement parts and toner have been improved in quality and
are made to last longer.
Q. Will my cartridge last as long as the original?
A. Your cartridge will usually last an average of 20% longer if
you recharge your cartridges with us. Believe it or not, the
original manufacturer doesn't fill their cartridges up to full
capacity. We put in an average of 20% or more toner than the
original manufacturer. You are not just saving money buy having
your cartridges recharged but you are also saving money because
they last longer.
Q. How many times can my cartridge be recharged?
A. That is a hard question to answer. It depends on the type of
cartridge and how you use it. In theory, most can be
remanufactured forever. Any worn parts (such as drums and wiper
blades) can be replaced. Even the outside shells can be replaced
for most cartridges. We have done some cartridges in excess of a
dozen times and they work just like they were brand-new.
Toner Tips
Vertical white streaks. Try taking out the toner cartridge and
shake it gently side to side a couple of times. Then try
printing again. Splotchy random white areas. This is sometimes
caused by damp paper. Replace your paper with a fresh supply
from an unopened ream.
Random miss-fed paper. Clean the paper pickup roller with
alcohol.
Feeding two sheets of paper at a time. Try fanning the paper
before inserting it into the tray.
